When You Give

What this book is

This is a book on understanding giving — not so much a “how to” as a “why.” God is our ultimate example in giving: everything we have, life here and now, eternal life, breath, the very beat of our hearts, is a gift from Him. Our only true response is to give ourselves fully and finally to God — to give ourselves away. We are not our own to begin with.

From “God gives” and “knowing and trusting God,” through “all we have is from God,” “giving is living, and living is dying to self,” and “all-in for God,” to what God says about giving, money matters, and all the “but what if” excuses, the book makes one case: Jesus gave all for us; may we follow Him. Two appendices gather a representative collection of Scriptures on giving and the poor and additional helpful reading, including Jonathan Edwards’ Christian Charity.
