“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,” (Ephesians 1:3, ESV) No, God is not dead. The word ‘blessed’ is from the Greek word ‘eulogetos’ which means to speak well of. To bless God is for us to speak well of God. We speak well of him for who he is – he is God – he is the supreme being, the Creator of all things. Bless the Lord God in the morning, in the noonday, in the evening, and at the closing of the night. God is worthy and entitled to all our praises – all our speaking well of. (next time, Lord willing, we will speak further about this verse and particularly what and who it is God blesses in Christ with all spiritual blessings)
