Ask Yourself: Are The Beatitudes My Attitude?

And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:2–3, ESV)  Jesus has taught us that the ‘poor in spirit’ are ‘blessed.’ This is not a thing you can touch and feel, it is a blessing that is ours when we receive the word of Jesus in Faith.  ‘poor in spirit’ = a recognition that God is not ‘lucky to have me on his team’ – I am blessed beyond measure that I love God because he first loved me and sent his Son Jesus Christ to die in my place that I might be made right with God and be secured in my relationship with God forever (and ever and ever – amen). Jesus said it and the only thing it lacks now is for me to ‘wear it’. To live today in light of what he has promised. When God speaks, he speaks on purpose and for a purpose. He doesn’t make suggestions, he gives us a solid foundation for the day and for life, now and eternally.  To reach the place where one recognizes the great blessings of the one true Holy God having made the provision for  you;  that he has done just that and that it is yours right now needing only for you / me to receive live the truth of God’s already accomplished work – is to experience a level of blessing that is not available by any other means other than to trust in the Lord with all your heart – to know he is God and to live accordingly. That is being blessed!
