Romans 12:21 (ESV) 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. This natural world is filled with evil but I am not of this world. I am in this world but not of it and Jesus has commanded that I not be like the world but that I be like him. I choose, in Christ, not to be overcome but to be an overcomer. Help me Lord to be an overcomer of evil as I trust in, and obey, and look to Jesus the Author and Finisher of my faith. Help me to be an overcomer by not trusting in my strength but in the finished work of Jesus and his person. Help me to lock my gaze on Jesus and follow him in my thoughts, words and actions and so to overcome evil today in the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
