Where did I come from?
We are all born of a mother and father; but God is our Creator. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)
The Bible says in Acts 17:25-26,
“… he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place,”
God tells us that he himself formed us and made us for himself. God gave us our life, and everything that we have, and he decided where and when we would live.
What is my purpose? Why am I here?
God did not create us and then leave us on Earth to wander aimlessly through life. We actually have a purpose for which to live.
“that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, for “ ‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, “ ‘For we are indeed his offspring.’” (Acts 17:27–28, ESV)
We are each here to be in a love relationship with God. There is only one way for us to have a relationship with God: by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. Our reason for being – our purpose is to be in a love relationship with God where we are progressively becoming more like Jesus. Christlikeness.
The third most important question is where am I going when I die?
God made us for a relationship with him. We sinned and broke the relationship which resulted in our alienation from God. Separated from him by our sin.
God made a way for us to be reconciled to him – made right with God. The way is Jesus. There is no other way. There is no other name. Jesus tells us we must be ‘born again.” The second birth is a spiritual birth.
If we are not born again, we condemn ourselves to live eternally separated from God, in Hell. But God loved us and gave his Son that by believing in Jesus Christ as our Savior, we have life. John 3:16. We receive this new birth as a gift from God (grace). The gift is received by faith (trusting in Jesus, who he is and what he has done for us).
If we are born again, we have life and we shall never die. We shall be with God in a new heaven for all eternity.
“And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”” (Luke 23:42–43, ESV)
The moment of our death, our spirit immediately goes to be with the Lord Jesus Christ.
