““Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8, ESV) Happy in the peace of God are those who are pure in heart. What pure in heart is not: Pure in heart is not self-created nor self-maintained purity. Purity that comes from me would be the opposite of pure. What pure in heart is: Pure in heart is the purity of the heart that has been born again and is trusting in the purity of Jesus Christ. A pure heart is one that is looking ever and always to Jesus, confessing his sin and asking God to forgive him of all sin and cleanse him in Christ. When I lose sight of myself and trust fully in the finished work of Jesus Christ then God purifies my heart in Christ and I see God. Amen.
