Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil. Matthew 5:37 Jesus tells them plainly – don’t be making these oaths. Don’t be swearing by anything because none of it is ours to begin with. Don’t stand on the ground you own and swear by the title to the land; don’t stand on or swear by anything but just perform to the Lord what you have sworn (Matthew 5:33). All this swearing is not to be heard among you who are called by the name of Jesus – just follow Jesus in telling the truth at all times and about all things. Amen,
