God Must Be First
When Adam and Eve decided to trust their own judgment over the perfect judgment of God, they were trying to take a place on the throne beside God or even ahead of God. This did not work for them then and we are still paying for that. We too try to squeeze onto the throne beside God and let people know we are ‘very spiritual’ – some of God’s special workers. That is total hogwash, we are servants of the Lord who love him first and love our neighbors as ourselves.
We Want The Heart Of A Servant
Serving God, following Jesus, being led by the Holy Spirit – living for the Lord is a life of serving, not being served. It is a life of putting the needs of others ahead of our own needs and wants.
There Is No Middle Ground – All In?
We are either serving God or we are serving our sinful selves.
Choose this day whom you will serve but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. (paraphrase from Joshua 24:15)
God’s Way Is Not The World’s Way
Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness… (Matthew 6:33)
In God’s economy, everything works different from the way of the world. In the world everyone wants to be first, in God’s economy he says whoever would be first will be last and whoever will be last will be first.
God Is Right – ALWAYS
God’s way is the right way. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil.” Proverbs 3:5-7

Lord, help me to stay away from your throne today. All glory and honor and power forever and ever are yours O Lord. Amen.
