“…so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” (Matthew 6:4) Here is a foundational question: Do you live your life for people or for God? Can’t be both because these are two very different paths that never intersect. God and God only is our audience – we ‘dance’ for his eyes only! We have no other judge but God. Never are we to appear before people to pass judgment on our spiritual condition – our ultimate destination. That is all in the hands of God. We love our neighbor as ourselves – but not to impress them but because God said so. Not only did God tell us this, he showed us this by sending his only Son that we might have life. If God gave his only Son so that we, all sinners, may have life. How much more shall we give ourselves fully to the Lord our God.
