““Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” (Matthew 5:17, ESV) Jesus did not take away the commandments of God in the Old Testament. The commandments were never given as a means of giving life but rather to point us to the need for life and that life only in God by faith.
Jesus did what we could never do!. Then he died for each one of us. He fulfilled the law and paid for our sin in full. He met for us what God required but we were utterly unable to accomplish – Jesus did for me and you what we could never do for ourselves. He did this, paid our sin debt, as a free gift that we receive by faith (belief and trust in Jesus) so as to be made right with God – forever in Christ Jesus. Amen
