“And when he had said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.” (Luke 19:28, ESV) When you wake and walk into this new day, Jesus went before you If it is your lot to suffer in some way today, know that Jesus has gone before you in suffering also. He went up to Jerusalem knowing what would happen. When we seek to serve, Jesus has gone before us in service – He said, “I have not come to be served but to be a servant…” “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”” (Mark 10:45, ESV) In giving, in suffering, in temptation, in serving – in all these and more Jesus has gone before us and he is with us even now. Take heart – Jesus Christ the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords has gone before us, and he is with us. Amen.
