Morning Prayers

Father, as I begin this last day of the year and contemplate the new year and reflect on the past – I am first reminded that to you one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as but a moment. You are not in time but rather you created time, but you created me / all of us for eternity. Thank you for giving me an eternal perspective on things and may I grow in that perspective even as I continue in time for this season. Lord, help me to live with my feet firmly planted in the reality of now but with my heart yearning toward the even greater reality of forever in Christ Jesus. May my love for you and for my neighbor have the same present and eternal focus – loving others in their needs now but seeing the even greater need of loving them with an eternal perspective. Father, may I decrease, and may Jesus increase and live, if it be your will, this next year with an all-in, nothing held back, fully committed approach to loving and following the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
