Never means never – ever

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”” (Romans 12:19, ESV)  Having spent many years sitting as a judge in the court system of my state, I know that the people gathered in the court room, with rare exception, wanted vengeance and were sure they knew just how that should play out. But, this is why they had a judge – she / he was above the fray and was in a much better position to handle the dispensation of justice always and ‘wrath’  if / where appropriate. How much more in this life do we need to allow God to judge and mete out the measure of his judgment / vengeance according to his perfect view and his eternal holiness and fairness. Leave it to God, he knows, and he always acts in accordance with his perfect knowledge of all things. Amen
