Romans 12:20 (ESV) 20To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” People make statements like, “He’s a really contrary fellow.” Rejoice when they make that statement because if we are living and speaking and being contrary to the ways of the world then we know we are in line with Jesus. Jesus was the most contrary of all when it came to living opposite of the way of the world. Contrary is good in the Spirit. Don’t do what comes natural – do to them worse than they did to you. NO! Instead, do good to those who seek to harm you, feed them and give them something to drink. Don’t allow yourself to be drawn into the worldly way of being on their level but live on God’s level and pray they will move up to God by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. They will hate you for it but when they cool down, they will realize you have something they very much want – peace and love and purpose and a place in the kingdom of God. Amen
