“And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed turned to the Lord.” (Acts 11:21, ESV) It is not the listening ear but the hearing and believing ear that turns to the Lord. Many people listen to the good news of Jesus but not all believe and turn. Repent means to turn, to have a change of mind, to turn from the old way to the new, from the world to the Lord Jesus Christ. Here in Acts we read that many believed and in believing they turned to the Lord – they trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ – this turn is not about listening, it is about hearing and making the turn from self / world to the humility of giving yourself in believing faith to the Lord Jesus Christ and so being born again spiritually into Christ Jesus.
