But I Say to you …

So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” (Matthew 5:23–24, ESV)  We have been, by the blood of Jesus (his redemption of us) been reconciled to God our Father. So, can we not see that we must work at reconciliation with others also. Don’t think, “Oh, he / she was the one who started all this, let them come to me.” How would that have worked out for us if God had said “They sinned against me, let them figure out how to make things right.”  NO – WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS CHRIST DIED FOR US TO RECONCILE US TO GOD (Romans 5:8). Forgive and seek to be reconciled to those who we may be separated from by our sin or their sin. “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” (Romans 12:18). It is always possible to do our part, we may not be received well, but we can yet do our part in Jesus’ name. Amen
