“so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;” (Colossians 1:10, ESV) When I think of all the ways I have failed the Lord, and others, I can’t even conceive of living in a manner that would be fully pleasing to God.
BUT
I am thinking about this wrong. Of course, I cannot live in a manner fully pleasing to God – in my own strength, by my own efforts – No one can do that.
BUT
God spoke aloud and said ‘this is my Son, with him I am well pleased.” When I, anyone, dies to self by repenting from self trust to trust in Christ alone by grace alone through faith alone – we are born again – the old has gone the new has come. We are now living our lives in Christ.
SO
I can, in Christ, live in a manner fully pleasing to God. Yet, not I, but Christ in me this is not only possible – this is basic Christianity. My part, having first been born again in Christ, is to keep my eyes on and fully trust in Jesus my Savior as I seek to follow him daily. Amen.
