“Give us this day our daily bread,” (Matthew 6:11, ESV) When we pray, we are saying to the Lord: “I am depending on you.” We are looking to God as our provider. We know that we can count on God to provide what is needed – his provision is always sufficient.
He has so loved us that if he never provides anything else, he has already provided us with an immeasurable, holy, sufficient, Savior who will ever be our hope and our joy and our peace both now and forever. So, Jesus is the daily bread that is needed, and God has already provided. God also provides ‘light bread’ for sandwiches, but if the supply of light bread ends, we know that Jesus himself is our supply and he is sufficient to meet all our needs. Amen
