““You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14, ESV) Jesus lights up our lives like nothing else in all the world can ever do. (if your life is not lit up with Christ, check your batteries- the Holy Spirit is the real energizer). When we are born again in Christ Jesus, when we set our sights on following him, the light of Christ is going to shine from within to the world around us. With Christ in us the focus of our lives, we are a ‘city set on a hill’ and the light is shining. If the ‘lighthouse’ of Christ in you is dim or seeming to fail – know that it is not God who is failing. We are blocking the light by turning in all the wrong directions – away from Christ. Turn your eyes upon Jesus – look full in his wonderful face – and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace which will shine through you abundantly. Amen.
