βand forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.β (Matthew 6:12, ESV) We have all sinned and fallen short of Godβs glory (Romans 3:23) and we all need to seek Godβs forgiveness for our sin. Now, we need to understand that if we have placed our faith in Jesus as our Savior β our sins are paid for in full; but our ongoing sin disrupts our fellowship with God so we need to address that daily. We donβt want anything between us and God β least of all our sin. If we claim to be without sin we are a liar and the truth is not in us but if we confess our sins God is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness (1 John 1:7-9) So we need to have a βsweepβ daily of our sin account and while we are recognizing how great is Godβs forgiveness we also must forgive others whatever they may have done to us. Failing to confess our sins and failing to forgive others for their βsinβ against us β this is a complete failure of following Jesus and when we are not following Jesus we are on the wrong path and going in the wrong direction. We must make a U-Turn and get back on the trail of Jesus. Amen.
